2009 Crop was Winter Triticale & Hairy Vetch
The Winter Triticale & Hairy Vetch was planted August 10, 2008 and over wintered for the 2009 crop.  180 pounds per acre of  54-13-8-3-2 fertilizer was broadcast on May 6, 2009.  No in-crop herbicide was used.  The Winter Triticale & Hairy Vetch  was harvested as hay on June 19, 2009 and yielded 3.75 tons/acre. 

A pre-emergence herbicide application of
24 ounces/acre of Mad Dog, Flame and Ammonium Sulfate (21-0-0-24) was sprayed on August 4, 2009.  A cover crop of soybean, lentil, millet, sunflower, radish, turnip and safflower was planted with a JD 1590 no-till drill on August 6, 2009 at 24 pounds/ acre at .75" deep with no additional fertilizer.

2008

2008 Crop was Spring Wheat (in place of what would have been third-year alfalfa)
No pre-emergence herbicide was applied prior to planting.  Howard Spring Wheat was planted with a JD 1590 no-till drill at 1.5 million pure live seeds/acre 1.5" deep on April 11, 2008 with 108 pounds per acre of urea (46-0-0) deep banded and 50 pounds per acre 11-52-0 with the seed (55.2 pounds/acre total actual N).  1 pint/acre of Bromac and .5 pint/acre of Puma was applied on June 7, 2008 for post emergent weed control.  Spring wheat was harvested in August 2008 and yielded; 9.3 bushels/acre @ 46 pounds/bushel.

A pre-emergence herbicide application of
24 ounces/acre of Mad Dog, Flame and Ammonium Sulfate (21-0-0-24) was sprayed on August 8, 2009.  A cover crop of was planted with a JD 1590 no-till drill on August 24, 2009 at  80 pounds/acre of Winter Triticale and 28 pounds/acre of (inoculated) Hairy Vetch at 1" deep with 50 pounds of 11-52-0 fertilizer placed with the seed.
